Lord Molyneaux Past Sovereign Grand Master
Home

Below on the right is a picture of the Past Sovereign, Grand Master, Most Worshipful, Sir Knight Lord Molyneaux, KBE. In his hands is a Ceremonial Mace, requested by Lord Molyneaux instead of a personal presentation to mark his 27 years as Sovereign Grand Master.

Lord Molyneaux requested that the Mace be used at formal meetings of the Imperial Grand Council.

Consequently each Preceptory, District and Grand Chapter financially supported the purchase of the Molyneaux Mace. The Mace, made from Sterling Silver, having the London Millennium Hallmark, is 43 " long with a 7" heptagonal (seven-sided) head, on top of which rests a Red Cross and Gold Crown carrying the inscription "King of Kings and Lord of Lords

On each of the seven faces is mounted a symbol relevant to the Royal Black Institution.

On the upper part of the stem a ribbon is engraved on which is inscribed the names of the Countries of the Royal Black Commonwealth.

At the centre of the stem is a 3 " diameter sphere engraved to depict a map of the World, illustrating the worldwide nature of the Royal Black Institution.

The Mace, created by Mr Graham Harron, of Killyleagh, Co. Down is a superb example of the art and craftsmanship of the Silversmith. (the original concept being submitted by Grand Council)

Mr John Hanson, of Glasgow, was invited to Killyleagh and applied his skill as a Master Engraver to hand engrave the Mace, thus further enhancing its appearance.
